چکیده

The open world assumption in ontologies representing knowledge may assign deficient (imprecise) meaning for ontology concepts which are language adjectives referring the meaning of classes of objects (individuals). The interpretation of an imprecise (vague) concept is by three subsets of individuals. The first subset of individuals surely belongs to the vague concept, the second subset of individuals surely doesn’t belong the vague concept and the third subset is in the borderline. In this paper, the authors will show that is possible to describe ontology vague concepts using well-defined formal languages. The authors will propose also an extension of the Tableau algorithm for reasoning over vague ontologies. KeywoRDS Automatic Reasoning, Description Logics, Ontologies, Tableau Algorithm, Vagueness

Description Logics with Approximate Definitions - Precise Modeling of Vague Concepts

We extend traditional Description Logics (DL) with a simple mechanism to handle approximate concept definitions in a qualitative way. Often, for example in medical applications, concepts are not definable in a crisp way but can fairly exhaustively be constrained through a particular suband a particular super-concept. We introduce such lower and upper approximations based on rough-set semantics,...

On Triangular Norm Based Fuzzy Description Logics

Description Logics (DLs) are knowledge representation languages useful to represent concepts and roles. Fuzzy Description Logics (FDLs) incorporate both vague concepts and vague roles modeling them as fuzzy sets and fuzzy relations respectively. In the present paper, following ideas from Hájek, we propose the use of t-norm based (fuzzy) logics with truth constants in the language as logics unde...

Fuzzy Description Logics and t-norm based fuzzy logics

Description Logics (DLs) are knowledge representation languages built on the basis of classical logic. DLs allow the creation of knowledge bases and provide ways to reason on the contents of these bases. Fuzzy Description Logics (FDLs) are natural extensions of DLs for dealing with vague concepts, commonly present in real applications. Hájek proposed to deal with FDLs taking as basis t-norm bas...

A Fuzzy Description Logic

Description Logics (DLs, for short) allow reasoning about individuals and concepts, i.e. set of individuals with common properties. Typically, DLs are limited to dealing with crisp, well defined concepts. That is, concepts for which the problem whether an individual is an instance of it is a yes/no question. More often than not, the concepts encountered in the real world do not have a precisely...

On Qualified Cardinality Restrictions in Fuzzy Description Logics under Łukasiewicz semantics

Fuzzy Description Logics have been proposed as a family of languages to describe vague or imprecise structured knowledge. This work deals with one of the less studied constructors, qualified cardinality restrictions, showing some counter-intuitive behaviours under Łukasiewicz semantics, and proposing a new semantics and the corresponding reasoning algorithm.
